Name Badges

I dread getting name tags ready for the first week of school.  Normally, I would laminate some decal with their name on it and string yarn through a punched hole at the top.

This would take me FOR-EV-ER!

The kids were to wear this around their neck while I learned their names.  However, it ended up not working half the time because the decal would get flipped around displaying the back or the yarn would get so twisted it took two teachers to set the child free.

Here is my solution!  I purchased badge holders and badge clips from Walmart.  I bought 2 sets of 12 badge holders for $1.88 each and 2 sets of 12 badge clips for $1.88 each.

  4. I use the same name tags! Another teacher introduced those to me a few years ago! They are so easy to pass out and the kids could put them--love them!

  9. Duh! Great idea!! I hate the whole construction paper cutting, hole punching, and yarn thing... and then they're backwards the whole day! Those tags and clips are on my Walmart shopping list now! Thanks for sharing!

  10. I do the same thing too! Just a little tip... one row of tape along the back. I found that kids like to put them in there mouths and that they also collect sand on the playground. They will last a lot longer that way.

I also use the sticker name tags from the dollar store. They are usually perforated so I just slide the whole thing in without taking the sticker off.

And they are great for subs, specials, and visiting other classes. Or if you have a visitor come in! I use mine all year long!

  12. Awesome idea! Oh, to never have to repunch the hole or add tape or try to staple it back onto the string because kiddos LOVE to pull on those things! lol Thanks for sharing-its on my list!

  14. Love this idea!! I finally remembered to get them when I was at Walmart today :) They only had the vertical badge holders but it doesn't really matter to me either way. I am now cutting my super bright index cards to slide inside!! YAY!!

  17. That would be cool. Aside from being easy to use and reuse, It wouldn't cost too much. Name Badges are really great for the first days of school and for special occasions like conferences with parents of students.
