Place Value Activity

Here is a math center activity used to reinforce place value.
How to Play?
  1. Place the deck of cards with the numbers facing up.
  2. Pick a card and try to stamp what it looks like using base 10 block stamps.
  3. Flip the card over to check your answer (self-correcting feature)

OR

  1. Place the deck of cards with the numbers facing up.
  2. Pick a card and try to BUILD what it looks like using base 10 blocks on a place value mat.
  3. Flip the card over to check your answer.(self-correcting feature)

If you notice at the bottom of the recording page it says, "color bag=."
The student writes what color the deck of cards are on that line.
The next deck of card they get maybe a different color (blue, green etc.)
and therefore, will have different numbers in the deck.
If you have a student who says, "I'm done!"
You can say, "Do a different colored deck."
